Welcome
I hand-build sculptural objects and vessels, often grouped or in series, which act as metaphors for emotional and physical states as well as inter-personal relationships. I am particularly interested in texture and tone and use photography, collage and drawing to develop my ideas.
The majority of my work is formed from thinly rolled or pinched porcelain and stoneware clays decorated with stains, oxides, slips and glazes which enhance surface qualities. The apparent fragility of these objects - often in the process of disintegration - reflect a heightened awareness of the cycle of life, the passage of time and human mortality.
